At Pittsfield First Baptist we have a very active body life filled with many opportunities to spend time with and learn from each other. Here are some examples of the ministries that are part of our Church body.

Alpha Course

Pittsfield First Baptist is a sponsor of the Alpha course. Alpha is designed to create a non-threatening and welcoming environment in which to introduce people to the Christian faith. The Alpha course runs for 10 to 11 weeks and is concluded with an overnight retreat. A typical Alpha evening consists of a meal with dessert, a short talk and finishes with a small group time in which participants can feel free to express their opinions and ask questions about the topic addressed that evening. Topics include Who Is Jesus?, Why Did He Die?, How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?,Why and How Do I Read the Bible?, Why and How Do I Pray?, Who Is the Holy Spirit?, and more. There are groups for both teens and adults. Call 487-5075 or email us to sign up.

Faithful Men

Currently our men are currently studying Systematic Theology. They meet at 7:00 in the choir room.

Leadership Development Network (LDN)

Pine Tree Director: Pastor Bill Johnson

There are 14 Leadership Development Networks (LDN’s) in the U.S. and Canada. They are typically a three year evangelist/ church planter training program dealing with necessary knowledge and skills for practical ministry. Some LDN’s also train church leaders such as elders and deacons. This is a program sanctioned and initiated by the Christian Reformed Church of North America. Pine Tree LDN is currently the only LDN for Classis Atlantic Northeast (CANE), although another is slated to come on-line in New Hampshire in the near future. To the right are websites for four LDN’s and links that are associated with the LDN program.

The Adelante Program/ Evangelist Training Program: Los Angeles
Directors: Al Breems and Albino Melendez

British Columbia Leadership Development Network: British Columbia
Directors: Martin Content, Henry Devries, Andrew Turkstra

Midwest LDN: South Dakota
Director: Jim Hoogeveen

Ascending Leaders (was Texas LDN)
Director: Mike Johnson

Tim Curtis, also a member of the Pine Tree LDN, is a Pastor at United Baptist of Madison and is a Graduate Student at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C.

Junior Development

Junior Church runs during part of the regular worship service and provides kids with an opportunity to interact in a safe, nurturing, and well supervised environment. Classes are divided by grades. Children stay upstairs in the sanctuary throughout announcements and part of the praise and worship, then leave for Children's Church after the children's message, which is given by Pastor Bill's wife, Debbie Johnson, who uses simple and memorable illustrations to fix important Biblical principles in the kids (and adults!) minds.

Nursery is available for children up to three years old. There are always at least one adult and two teenage staff on hand to ensure that your child is well cared for. Babies and toddlers are, however, more than welcome to attend the worship service with their parents. Our nursery is also equipped with space for nursing mothers.

Marriage Course

We also offer the Alpha Marriage Course. This course affords participants the opportunity to have a romantic candle lit night out and provides couples with tools to enhance their marriage. The marriage course is for any married couple who wants to build strong foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime!

Women's Ministries

Our women meet several times a week for prayer, both at the church building and in private homes. Contact the church office for more info, as the number of groups being offered changes from time to time.

Youth Activities

Our youth meet on Monday evenings from 6 to 8 for Bible study and on Saturday evenings for fun and fellowship.
